About the Authors
About the Authors
Betty Nguyen, MD is a physician specializing in dermatology. She was born in Southern California but spent much of her childhood in Georgia, where she grew up on a chicken farm. Betty studied Biology at UCLA, where she was a Gates Millennium Scholar, and earned her MD from UC Riverside on a full-tuition scholarship. Outside of work, Betty is a certified yoga instructor and licensed scuba diver. She also enjoys journalistic writing and cycling.
Brandon Pham, MD is a physician specializing in ophthalmology. He was born and raised in Southern California. Brandon studied Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics at UCLA, where he was a Goldwater Scholar, and earned his MD from Stanford. He is passionate about medical education for students of all ages. In his free time, Brandon enjoys traveling, playing tennis, and running.

This book should be required reading for all kids. My wife works in the dental field and says this is the best children’s book about dentistry that she’s ever seen. After reading this book, I definitely understand why she says that. Even my daughter who is just learning to talk absolutely loves it when I read this book to her. The book explains the different parts of the teeth very well and discusses common dental conditions, such as gingivitis and cavities, and their treatments. Most importantly, this book teaches kids to maintain good oral hygiene by brushing their teeth, flossing, limiting sugary foods/drinks, and visiting the dentist regularly. We think this book should be in every dentist’s waiting room around the world!!
My toddlers loved learning about the structure and function of teeth in Dentistry for Kids. The book reviews the anatomy of teeth, then teaches about different tooth problems and their treatments. This book was very easy to understand and engaging for my boys. My sons were eager to brush their teeth after learning about cavities and seeing illustrations of tooth decay. The part that really got to them to brush their teeth every night was seeing an illustration of a severely decayed tooth requiring an extraction. My wife and I are so glad that we read this book to our boys, and we can’t wait to read more books from this series!
