About the Authors
About the Authors
Betty Nguyen, MD is a physician specializing in dermatology. She was born in Southern California but spent much of her childhood in Georgia, where she grew up on a chicken farm. Betty studied Biology at UCLA, where she was a Gates Millennium Scholar, and earned her MD from UC Riverside on a full-tuition scholarship. Outside of work, Betty is a certified yoga instructor and licensed scuba diver. She also enjoys journalistic writing and cycling.
Brandon Pham, MD is a physician specializing in ophthalmology. He was born and raised in Southern California. Brandon studied Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics at UCLA, where he was a Goldwater Scholar, and earned his MD from Stanford. He is passionate about medical education for students of all ages. In his free time, Brandon enjoys traveling, playing tennis, and running.

This book is amazing! The vocabulary is well done and it's a great elementary age book for learning a little more information about the body than typical kids books. Pictures are interesting and bright to look at!I highly recommend this book to any kid who has more interest in learning terms and descriptions than they might learn in other books about the body.
Our 3-year-old granddaughter absolutely loves this gastroenterology book and asks to read it over and over! The concepts are explained in a way that’s easy for young children to understand, with clear language and engaging visuals. The illustrations are especially well-done, bringing complex ideas to life in a fun and approachable way. This book has been a wonderful tool for introducing her to the fascinating world of how our bodies work, and I’d highly recommend it to other families looking to spark curiosity in young minds.
My 6 years old said he wants to become a poop doctor. And we read this book and now he says I am going to become Gastroenterologist (we have practiced multiple times together)
Although my kid is only 4, he has learned so much about the GI tract with this book. He especially likes the Bristol stool chart, and every time he poops he would categorize it into what type he thinks it is. If it’s less than type 4, he knows he needs to eat more fiber with fruits and veggies!
This is a wonderful idea for a children's book series. My only critique is that they need a punctuation key for the less common medical terms.

We have all the different specialties in these series of kids medical books as my son loves them! Even though he is only 3, he actually learns about different parts of the body and what happens when we don’t look after it or it gets sick! Lovely illustrated to make understanding and explaining to a young child!
